Classy Adventures

Defense Against the Dark Arts

Welcome welcome! It's time for another adventure that I've been waiting for. Perhaps put up your defenses and we can begin?

If you're new to this blog, I am Ilan Kim bringing you another edition of Classy Adventures! This blog is about... the different classes taught at the castle! Each addition includes information on classes, some cool aesthetics, and even a little section where you get to help fill in the blanks! Anyway, let's look into our class for today which is... Defense Against the Dark Arts or DADA!

What was Defense Against the Dark Arts like many years ago? Did people still use all the same spells and have the same practical practice of defending themselves? Well well! If you've been wondering this, you've come to the right place.

Defense Against the Dark Arts was considered a core class and was taught from the entire duration of when students came to the castle. In this class, students learned all sorts of defenses against the dark arts. This included in depth learning of spells and dueling.

While this subject is known to be hard, it's also known to be incredible useful in the magical world. Some topics that this class typically covered were how jinxes and hexes worked, counter-curses, defense against dangerous creatures. This combined a ton of theoretical and practical practice.

Nowadays, interestingly not much about DADA has changed. This is probably because still today, defense from all of these things is still just as important. The subject is now taught by Professor Sebastian Worthington and let's hear what our Professor has to say about the subject!

"Defence Against the Dark Arts combines theoretical and practical elements of magic in its lessons, and primarily focuses on how to defend oneself from dark spells and magical creatures. The curriculum features a lot of variety, meaning that one lesson you could learn about Vampires one lesson, and the Freezing Spell the next. And although it's got a reputation for being a dangerous or difficult subject, DADA will help to prepare any good witch or wizard for their future in the magical world." - Sebastian Worthington

Doesn't this sound like so useful, fun, and maybe a bit difficult? If this sounds fun, don't forget to go take this class!

Ah, now, shall we enjoy some wonderful aesthetics?

Every new edition, there's going to be a little... adventure! This will consist of a character (note: these characters are NPCs and do not actually exist on site) having an adventure at the featured class of the week! But I'm going to need your help! How? It's up to you to fill in the blanks. Have you ever heard of mad libs? Well, that's what we're going to be doing. Each week, there will be adjectives, nouns, all those fun stuff for you to fill out in the comments and one person's suggestions will go into the next week's adventure!

And thank you so much to everyone who filled out the mad lib last week! And this week, thank you Sebastian Worthington for filling it out and congratulations on being featured. Ready for the adventure?

Time after time. Cedar was sick of it. It wasn’t that he didn’t like Defense Against the Dark Arts, it was just the fact that he could never get any of the spells right. It took so much practice to get 784.396 right in class but Cedar had no idea how he would actually sprint if there ever was an emergency or if he needed to defend himself. Or in a cereal box for example. The 11-year-old squawked but lifted himself up and forced himself to try the spell. “Verdimillious.” The words were said almost but nothing happened. No sparks. No nothing. Cedar’s friend quickly came over to see his progress. “Hey, just relax. Your life doesn’t depend on this.” Cedar took a deep breath and forced himself to relax. Closing his eyelids, he flicked his wand and breathed out the words, “Verdimillious!”

I'm definitely not laughing right now! You ARE!

Would you like a chance to have what you would put in the blanks featured? Well, well, next week's adventure is a surprise but whatever you might comment could definitely change the story a little! So make sure to fill this out in the comments!
  • noun
  • relation
  • adjective
  • verb
  • body part
  • adjective
I cannot wait to see what next week's adventure turns out to be and what it's like but I guess we'll have to find out! Don't forget to fill out the blanks in the comments- OH and did I mention that everyone who fills in the blanks gets a prize? So go go!

Well, well, I hope you've had a wonderful time reading this blog- I've had a great time writing it! Make sure to stay tuned for the next post and next adventure in two weeks!

Thank you for reading and make sure to go do your DADA homework!
