My dearest Wopians it is with the greatest honour that I am proud to present this new blog series to you titled, ‘What is the Function of..?’ Since I have been released from the castle to explore the Muggle world I have been on the lookout for the strangest objects available in the muggle world. I have been trying out these said objects just to find out exactly what their function is, not without a few curveballs along the way though.

I heard about a peculiar muggle item known as a Mouse which apparently can be used on something called a computer or a laptop… now I haven’t the foggiest clue what a laptop or a computer is or how it works yet, but I will be sure to find out in my upcoming blogs.

I have heard of regular mice in our world and apparently the muggle world has these too, but this is a very special kind of mouse. I walked into the pet store in the muggle world as that is where you would find a mouse right? Well apparently not, see they do have the regular mice we have but apparently they didn’t stock a computer mouse in there and told me I would find one of those in an electronic store.. I didn’t exactly understand why the store clerk was looking at me strangely and then went to whisper to their colleagues about what I had asked for. Anyway, after a few moments and me standing there in utter confusion the store clerk directed me to the electronic store and wished me well on my journey.

It was only a short walk to the electronic store and I soon found it, once I got inside though I was surrounded by people talking and looking out at me from inside flat boxes, I immediately wanted to take my wand out as I wasn’t sure if these were muggle versions of foe glasses and I was in immediate danger. Luckily a nice young lady came up to me and told me that I wasn’t in danger and that those people were on television, another item I will have to explore. Again I received the strangest looks from her but once I calmed down I explained what I was after.

I was shown to the said mouse and I was surprised to see so many different colours, I lifted it up and was almost blinded by the bright lights below, which I can only assume is a defense mechanism for these mice in the wild. It had the longest and strangest tail I had ever seen plus it had no ears, no eyes, no mouth… it didn’t look at all like the mice I am used to. Anyway I purchased the mouse and took it home with me to properly get a look at it.

I had already purchased a little home for the mouse, a nice big cage with a bed of wood shavings and not to mention several toys and food and water for it. The mouse seemed very happy in it’s new home, although I can’t say it was overly exciting. It literally did nothing and not even the bright lights below it worked in the cage, I tried to offer it food, but it wasn’t hungry, I offered it water but the water simply ran off the top of it, I placed it in it’s wheel for exercise but it remained stationary. I assumed the mouse was sick and so I picked it up and wrapped the little thing in a soft fluffy towel and took it to the vets.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you ever find yourself in the muggle world and purchase a computer mouse DO NOT take it to the vets. As soon as the vet looked at my mouse he laughed uncontrollably, he literally couldn’t stand up from laughing and so I can only assume that the computer mouse actually holds dark magic to induce hysteria. I don’t know exactly what happened afterwards as I was soon escorted from the vets and thrown out the door by a big burly man.

This is your warning to be extremely cautious with what you get in the muggle world. Since the encounter I destroyed the mouse and it will never harm another muggle again.
